Children in 13 states have come down with COVID-19, with 11 states reporting children 
with COVID-19 in the last two weeks. There have been over 100 cases of children getting COVID-19 resulting in five child deaths.
The symptoms children have been showing when they get COVID-19 are similar to Toxic Shock Syndrome, which appeared in the USA in the 1980s, and similar to Kawasaki Disease, Dr. Fauci said today. Dr. Fauci is a scientist, physician and USA public health official.

According to the New York Times, “Many of the children, ages 2 to 15, have shown symptoms associated with toxic shock or Kawasaki disease, a rare illness in children that involves inflammation of the blood vessels, including coronary arteries, the city’s health department said.”
Dr. Fauci is advising that no children go back to school until after every child and student is tested and contact tracing is done.
The reason physicians think that children are presenting with the different symptoms that they do is because some children have a hyper acute immune system.

- red eyes without discharge
- rash on trunk and genital area

- swollen lymph nodes on neck
- irritability
- peeling of skin
- blotchy blue skin
- rapid heartbeat
Toxic Shock symptoms include:
- sudden high fever
- low blood pressure
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- rash resembling a sunburn, particularly on palms and soles
- confusion
- muscles aches
- redness of eyes, mouth and throat
