The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration was authorized by Congress, established under the Secretary of Defense and launched by President Barack Obama in 2012.

In 2012, President Obama signed a presidential proclamation, designating March 29 as the annual observance of Vietnam War Veterans Day. The signing of the proclamation marked the 50th anniversary of the departure of the last American troops from Vietnam — March 29, 1973.

By Presidential proclamation, the Vietnam War Commemoration will continue through Veterans Day, November 11, 2025. Our nation will commemorate this 50th anniversary over a 13-year period.

It is with heart-felt pride that I wish to honor my valiant husband, John T. Hourihan, Jr, who in his 3 years of service in Vietnam while in the Army, was awarded the Cross of Gallantry for Valor in the Face of the Enemy, also known as the Cross of Gallantry with the Palm Device. This man helped to save so many lives.

John continues standing up for fairness and equality for all of humanity, sharing hope, inspiration, and knowledge as an author of 13 books, which can be found anywhere books are sold.

God Bless All Our Veterans Everywhere
