Not Only COVID-19 Scars The Lungs ~ Breathing In Dangerous Toxic Chemicals Do Too ~ Natural Healthy Alternatives

For many survivors of COVID-19 who have life-long scarring of the lungs, they will be coping with this issue for a long time. However they, as well as the rest of us, do not need to unnecessarily breath in the harmful chemicals which also scar the lungs. Not all green products that promise effectiveness and good health while cleaning have proven to be true to these claims.

In March 2018, a study was published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine that proved beyond any doubt that using the dangerous and toxic chemicals laden in most national brand household cleaners as little as one day each week is as dangerous to our lungs as smoking a pack of cigaretts every day for 20 years.

This respiratory health survey studied 6,235 women and men age 34 at 22 health centers around the world. This was a 20 year study. There were 28 researchers from nine countries, led by scientists at the University of Bergen, Norway.

There conclusions were startling, including seven primary findings:

  1. Using national brand cleaners as little as once a week is as damaging to lungs as smoking a pack of cigaretts every day for 20 years.
  2. Women are affected far more than men.
  3. Cleaning at home is just as harmful as being an occupational cleaner, if not more so.
  4. National brand liquid clearners are just as harmful as spray cleaners. Chemicals in liquid cleaners become just as available as sprays through evaporation.
  5. Although national brand cleaners use all kinds of dangerous, toxic chemicals, researchers mentioned ammonia, chlorine bleach, quaternary disinfecting compounds as some of the primary culprits. They cautioned that long-term exposure to airway irritants such as amonia and chlorine bleach used when cleaning the home could cause fibrotic or other interstitial changes in the lung tissue, and thereby lead to accelorated delcine of FVC (Forced Vital Capacity); in other words, scaring of the tissues of the lungs.
  6. Women who regularly use national brand cleaning products have increased rates of asthma. I question here that if men cleaned the home, given the same perameters such as same time cleaning with the same products, would they also not also see an increased rate of asthma and other lung issues?
  7. Damage to the lungs gets worse over time. When dangerous, toxic chemicals like ammonia, chlorine bleach, quaternary disinfectante, and any number of other hazardous ingredients found in national brand cleaners are regularly breathed into the sensitive tissues within the lungs, it only makes sense that respiratory problems would result.

Researchers wrote, “Exposure to cleaning chemicals could result in accelorated lung function (LF) decline and chronic airway obstruction, low-grade inflammation over many years could probably lead to persistant damage to the airways.”

The smell of these products alone indicates they cannot be healthy. Even the unopened bottles of cleaning products in the isle of the grocery store accost you in their powerful chemical odors.

Maybe you have tried store-brand green alternatives with little success. Not all green products are the same.

I recommend tossing out all harmful and toxic chemical cleaners from your homes and replace them with the one organic company I have found that puts health before profit, Melaleuca, The Wellness Company. I usually do not recommend any particular product in the marketplace.

But I do find I must speak up against the use of such products that harm the general ususpecting public who put their trust in the companies they purchase cleaning products from.

Like with cigarette companies, toxic cleaning products come with warning labels on the side of the containers. How many of us don those rubber gloves, wear masks, or open all the windows no matter the time of year for adequate ventilation, or worse yet, combine dangerous chemicals for a better cleaning result?

Since 1985, Melaleuca has been leading the world in highly concentrated natural products for the home, with health at the top of consideration. For more than three decades, Melaleuca scientists have formulated cleaning products that have performed household chores that have unparrelled results without the cheaply, widely available dangerous chemicals national brands are known to contain.

Melaleuca, in the EcoSense line, has taken a firm stand on dangerous and toxic ingredients. They pledge that they do not use them, never have and never will. They use safe, bio-degradable, plant derived ingredients, and were among the first to sell products in highly concentrated form. They reason that customers do not need to pay extra for water, nor for the larger plastic containers that contain these products.

They are also earth aware, totalling what they have saved by the use of smaller containers, while maintaining high quality and human safe ingredients. To date, Melaleuca has managed to save over 166 million pounds of plastic, 34 million gallons of gasoline, and have reduced 37 million pounds of greenhouse gases.

I don’t mean to sound like a commercial. It’s just that I am so excited about this company and want to share some positive news with everyone. Survivors of COVID-19 with lingering health issues could benefit from looking into this company. I can help connect people who wish to learn more about Melaleuca. Feel free to use the comment section at the top left of this post and I will get back to you.

Have a beautiful day!
