Congresswoman (MA-7) Ayanna Pressley advocates voting NO on Question 3 and says, “We can’t let private equity & dark money groups rig Massachusetts primaries to shut out working class candidates, candidates of color, and first-time candidates in favor of those who have fast access to massive wealth and the biggest ad budgets.”
Ayanna Soyini Pressley is the Democratic U.S. Representative for Massachusetts’s 7th congressional district since January 3, 2019, making her the first Black woman elected to Congress from Massachusetts.
The MA‑07 district covers the northern three‑quarters of Boston, most of Cambridge, parts of Milton, and all of Chelsea, Everett, Randolph, and Somerville .
Pressley’s legislative work focuses on justice, equity, and community empowerment, with priorities including reproductive rights, immigrant justice, consumer protection, workers’ rights, senior care, and support for survivors of sexual violence.
She serves on the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.
What is Q3?
Question 3 is an attempt by private equity and finance to rewrite our election laws by eliminating party primaries and having one big primary. The campaign has raised nearly $7 million, with 20 wealthy donors or firms giving over $100,000 each. This is the most of any question this year.
Why vote NO?
In the two states with this system, candidates with fast access to wealth and dark money get even more of an advantage while working class candidates, first time candidates, and candidates of color are shut out.
That is why supporters working for this cause are proud to have Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, the AFL-CIO, Mass Teachers Association and SEIU fighting back against this takeover of our elections.
You can help to spread the word by sharing this post with your friends and family encouraging them to vote NO on Question 3 on Election Day this November.
Thank you for your consideration on this important matter.
