There is a reason for the darkness in the world. It is the exact reason why Herod called for the slaughter of all two-year old boys and under, why past human justice systems could impale criminals to die on the stake, and why wars have occurred in every land since the beginning of time.
There is a reason for the multiple holocausts and ethnic cleansings across this one Earth we all share. Among the first of many is the Canaanite Holocaust and the more widely known Jewish Holocaust. Then there is the equally insidious holocaust known as the pan-African Holocaust. The word “Maafa” is also known as the African Holocaust. It seems many people are unaware of other holocausts unless it happens to them.
“Songs we would never hear! Histories we would never know! Art we would never see! Because the European had the capacity to destroy and didn’t have the moral restraint not to.” This quote is attributed to Maulana Karenga. There is a reason why murders occur in every city in the world, and why every sinister thought, word, and action crosses the mind of all human beings when things do not go our way, especially if money is to be made, or power is to be lost.
The human mind always wants to blame the other guy, as if you and I are not responsible for the bad things that happen to us, our families, our countries, and the Earth itself. Isn’t it easier to point the finger at someone else rather than own our own stuff, man-up, if you will excuse the term (but you know what I mean), and make more mature and sounder, life-giving decisions?
When did each of us let ourselves off the hook when it comes to honesty, integrity, and being magnanimous of spirit?
We are all culpable. If we were not, we would not lie, cheat and steal so easily. It is not such a big slide to go from lesser offence to greater and greater ones. We can just take a look at police logs in our areas or do a personal and honest examination of our own consciences. Notice there are offenses on both sides of the register. Each one of us is guilty from time to time.
WHY?
Jiminy Cricket tells our children in the Walt Disney movie Pinocchio, to let their conscious be their guide. Even at a young age youth struggle with right and wrong, good and bad, a conscious decision is to be made that involves free will. This means each one of us has a choice.
Where does this inkling to darkness come from?
Take a moment to consider John 8:44 in the English Standard Version. What if Jesus actually meant what he said? “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
Jesus also says this in the Second Revelation of James (brother of Jesus), “I tell you, listen and understand. For many when they hear, will be fainthearted, but you, understand in the way I can tell you. Your father is not my Father, but my Father has become a father to you.”
The Father of Jesus loved each one of us so much that Jesus was sent to us to show us the way, the way of Light and Love. In Luke 17:20-21, Jesus said, “The Kingdom of God won’t be ushered in with visible signs. You won’t be able to say, ‘It has begun here in this place or there in that part of the country.’ For the Kingdom of God is within you.”
This is mentioned in numerous times in the Nag Hammadi Scriptures, as well as in today’s modern Bibles. There is no conflict with the Light of the Soul which is inside all human beings.
However, whatever grows within us is that which we focus on. This is where free will comes in. We can choose to go to war, or we can choose to focus on peaceful solution, greed or generosity, lack or abundance.
When enough people focus on war, greed, and lack, we get the reality of the seeds we have sown.
The good news is, we also have the Light of the Father of Jesus Christ within us when we awaken to our own Christed selves as Jesus taught us, that the Kingdom of God is within us. Let us never forget that.
